The present invention relates to a device structured for hand control in the playing of a sporting game. In particular, the present invention relates to an improved stick used to play the game of ringette. The ringette stick comprises a generally elongated stem, tip reinforcing means and a tip assembly. The generally elongated stem is provided to be lightweight and durable as well as substantially rigid with controlled flex. The tip reinforcing means provides additional strength to the tip assembly and decreases the likelihood of breakage between the stem and the tip assembly. The tip assembly is typically made of polyurethane, which can be easily secured to the stem. In addition, the use of polyurethane in the tip assembly improves a player's ability to control and manipulate the ring, by making it easier to lift the ring off the ice during a shot. Furthermore, the polyurethane tip assembly is more resistant to wear than conventional ringette tips.
