The invention will monitor road and highway surface rut depths and ripple amplitudes producing numerical and graphic records bearing each reading's time and date. The invention will monitor and record road rut depth and two--wheel ripple, one-ripple value from each front wheel. A tow wheel provides rut depth and odometer reading values for the recorder measuring the rut depth with respect to the trailer hitch connector on any vehicle in use for the road monitoring. The apparatus is portable and may be moved readily from one vehicle to another using quick connections between the data logger and installed ripple sensors and the rut and odometer distance 5th wheel apparatus. The system software can analyze the data and display results such that the data for the entire road distance monitored can be displayed or any chosen portions thereof.
