This invention relates to road mats in general and to a new and improved road mat having a location-determining device, in particular. In one aspect of the invention, there is provided a road mat location-determining system having a road mat having a global positioning system receiver to receive global positioning system data. The road mat further includes a transducer in operative communication with the global positioning system receiver. The transducer generates electromagnetic frequency signals containing the global positioning system data. The system further includes a remote receiver configured to receive the electromagnetic frequency signals from the transducer. The system further includes a processor in operative communication with the remote receiver. The processor processes the electromagnetic frequency signals to determine the geographic location of the road mat.
