ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A road vehicle radar system includes a radar transmitter which transmits a continuous signal modulated by a waveform which has periods of linearly increasing, periods of linearly decreasing and periods of constant modulation. A receiver demodulates radar and echo signals and produces an audio frequency output, the frequency of which varies with the modulation and the range and relative speed of the obstruction reflecting the echo signals. A computer processes the received information, treating information received during the periods mentioned above separately, enabling unambiguous range and relative speed date to be computed.
