ABSTRACT It is known to wash the wheels of road vehicles in situ upon an appara-tus. In this invention, such an apparatus is made suitable for the wash- ing of driven or non-driven wheels of a vehicle by a free-wheel mechan- ism interposed between one roller of a pair of rollers and power drive means coupled to said one roller. Operation by the vehicle driver of a switch, and also release of a brake which prevents rotation of said one roller, causes said one roller to be driven by said power drive means and for water to be sprayed by a first pump at the non-driven wheels of the vehicle. Alternative operation is to use the driven wheels of the vehicle to rotate said one roller to drive a second pump to spray water at said driven wheels. Two pairs of rollers may be provided, each pair being provided with its own second pump but the second pair can not be coup led to the power drive means by the free-wheel mechanism. - 1 -
