A system for filling con- tainers with a prescribed med- ication includes a support head for receiving a disposable sy- ringe which allows the syringe to be pumped to transfer liq- uid to and from the syringe. A robot arm is also provided to carry medication and dilu- ent containers to the syringe for withdrawing diluent to the sy- ringe and injecting it into the medication container for mix- ing. In order to ensure align- ment of the containers with the syringe, there is provided on the support head an additional needle grasping system which grasps and locates the needle for penetration of the mem- brane of the container. The support head includes a weigh scale as an integral element thereof so that the syringe is weighed after each step of the process. The syringe is actuated in a pumping action to inject air into the container and to withdraw liquid from the container and to maintain at the termination of the pumping action a partial vacuum within the container so that any liquid tending to escape as a drop is drawn back into the container and is prevented from escaping to atmosphere. The medication containers and the diluent container together with a syringe are supplied on a rack body so that each prescription to be filled can be set up in advance on a separate rack body and that rack body inserted into the apparatus in turn and located on a base member of the apparatus. A separate mixer is provided for receiving the medication container from the robot arm for effecting an oscillating mixing action while the robot arm effects functions on a further container.
Un système, qui permet de remplir des flacons avec une médication prescrite, comporte une tête de support qui reçoit une seringue jetable, ce qui permet d'utiliser cette seringue pour aspirer ou expulser un liquide. Un bras robotisé permet en outre de transporter des flacons de médication et de diluant vers la seringue pour que celle-ci aspire du diluant et l'injecte dans le flacon de médication pour l'y mélanger. Pour assurer l'alignement des flacons et de la seringue, on dispose sur la tête de support un système complémentaire de saisie d'aiguille qui la saisit et la place pour qu'elle pénètre dans la membrane du récipient. Cette tête de support est dotée d'une balance intégrée qui permet de peser la seringue après chaque étape du processus. La seringue s'utilise de façon à injecter de l'air dans le flacon et à en retirer du liquide, et de façon à établir à la fin de l'aspiration un vide partiel dans le flacon pour que tout liquide tendant à s'échapper sous forme de goutte soit ramené dans ce flacon et ne puisse passer dans l'atmosphère. Les flacons contenant les médications et le diluant, ainsi que la seringue, sont disposés à l'avance sur un rangement distinct correspondant à une ordonnance à honorer, l'étagère distincte étant alors insérée dans l'appareil et placée sur un élément de la base de cet appareil. Un mélangeur séparé permet de recevoir le flacon de médication du robot pour procéder à un mouvement de mélange oscillant pendant que le bras robotisé intervient sur un autre flacon.
