A portable sports goal comprises a left base member, a right base member, a rear base member loosely connected to the left base member and the right base member, a substantially vertically oriented left goal post loosely connected to the left base member, a substantially vertically oriented right goal post loosely connected to the right base member, and a cross-bar member loosely connected to the left goal post and the right goal post. The left base member, the right base member, the rear base member, the left goal post, the right goal post, and the cross-bar member together form a goal frame that defines a central opening. A goal net is mounted on the goal frame to thereby generally span across the central opening so as to retain the elongate frame members together as the goal frame.
