ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A rock bit assembly for drilling holes in the earth's crust has an integral bit body connectable to a drill string and a number of rotatable cutter cones. Two rows of ball or roller bearings connect each cone to the bit body. Each cone is formed with an inner shaft extending along the center axis of the cone and the inner races for the bearings are mounted on this shaft. The bearings are located in an outer race which is connected to the bit body and is disconnectable therefrom. Disconnection of the outer race results in the disconnection of the respective cone, bearings, and inner races.
