ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A rock drilling apparatus having a body member and an axially reciprocable hammer piston disposed within the body member. A striking element has a portion disposed within the body member and a portion projecting therefrom. The striking element is adapted to be moved by means of the piston. The striking element has an axial bore extending to an outer extremity thereof and at least one radial bore in communication therewith. A fluid reservoir are disposed in contact with the striking element for supplying fluid to the axial bore through the radial bore. The reservoir is preferably disposed externally of the body member.
