The invention provides a method of and applicator for the application of a layer of elastomeric material to a rock face. In particular, the elastomeric composition is one of at least two components, preferably polyurethane, and it is applied to a mineral or ore face in underground mining operations. A suitable pump assembly for the components of the composition will be connected to an applicator. The applicator has a delivery nozzle and an air nozzle which are substantially concentric with the air nozzle extending over the delivery nozzle. The applicator is configured for the delivery nozzle to introduce the composition into a stream of air directed by the air nozzle. The delivery nozzle is connected to one end of a mixing tube with a pair of delivery hoses from the pump assembly connected to the other end. The method of applying an elastomeric composition to a rock face, involves providing a stream of air directed towards the face and introducing the elastomeric composition into the air stream. The composition is carried as globules by the air stream to splatter the face.
