ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A rocker arm assembly for operating an internal combustion engine valve is described. The rocker arm fulcrum has a load transfer means positioned above it. Interposers are provided which are movable into and out of load transfer means movement blocking position. In the blocking position, the interposer prevents floating movement of the load transfer means and the fulcrum so that the fulcrum pivot axis is substantially fixed and the rocker arm is pivotable thereabout to transmit motion from its actuator to the valve. When the interposer is in the non- blocking position, the load transfer means and the fulcrum can float on the fulcrum support in response to movement of the rocker arm by its actuator, so that the rocker arm is inoperative to transmit motion from the actuator to the valve. In this way, selective operation of the engine valve may be effected.
