A power liftgate drive assembly (10) moves a liftgate (12) of a motor vehicle (14) between an open position and a closed position The power liftgate assembly (10) is aligned along the side of the motor vehicle (14) A liftgate rod (46) extends in a generally vertical orientation between the power liftgate drive assembly (10) and the liftgate (12) The assembly (10) includes a base (24) that is fixedly secured to the motor vehicle (14) near a load floor (22) A guide (28) extends upwardly from the base (24). The guide (28) extends along the side of the motor vehicle (14) and is disposed adjacent the liftgate (12) when the liftgate (12) is in the closed position A liftgate carriage (40) is connected to the guide (28). Cette invention concerne un ensemble d'entraînement qui déplace un hayon de véhicule entre une position d'ouverture et une position de fermeture. Cet ensemble d'entraînement est disposé sur le côté du véhicule moteur. Une tige de hayon est disposée de façon généralement verticale entre l'ensemble d'entraînement du hayon et le hayon lui-même. L'ensemble comprend un socle qui est fixé à demeure sur le véhicule prés du plancher de chargement. Un élément de guidage est orienté vers le haut à partir du socle. Cet élément de guidage se situe le long du côté du véhicule et se trouve contre le hayon lorsque ce dernier est fermé. Un chariot de hayon est relié au guide. Ce chariot coulisse le long du guide. La tige du hayon est reliée pivotant entre le chariot de hayon et le hayon. La tige de hayon transforme le mouvement linéaire du chariot de hayon en un mouvement pivotant du hayon en déplaçant ce dernier entre les positions d'ouverture et de fermeture.
