A tool (10) for rotating a rod is provided which is formed of three members. A first member (14) is formed as a sleeve and has an internal opening size to receive the rod. This sleeve (14) has a tapered portion (28) which is placed over the rod. A second member (30), which may also be in the form of a sleeve, slips onto the first sleeve (14). A third member sleeve (40) is axially fixed to one of the first (14) and second (30) members and engages against the other member. A mechanical arrangement is provided to selectively urge the third sleeve (40) apart from the other members against which it engages in order to move the second member (30) and the first member (14) relative to one another to collapse the end of the first member (14) engaging the rod. The first member (14) has a shaped contour (18) for receiving a torque applying device.

Outil (10) faisant tourner une tige et comportant trois éléments. Un premier élément (14) consiste en un manchon dont le diamètre d'un orifice interne permet de recevoir la tige. Le premier élément (14) présente un profil (18) formé de manière à recevoir un dispositif appliquant une force de torsion.
