ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a device for cutting a web of foil into lengths in a machine for packing cigarette packets. This device comprises at least one pair of continuous wheels for feeding the foil between fixed guides and a pair of cutting blades placed opposite each other below the said feed wheels. At least one of the cutting blades is driven in continu- ous rotation about an axis parallel to the feed wheels. A cylindrical pad of absorbent material freely rotates about its own axis set parallel to the axis of rotation of the said rotating blade and is in such a position that, during its rotatory movement, the said rotating blade comes into contact with the said cylin- drical pad of absorbent material which may be pre-soaked in vaseline oil.
