A roll stability control system for a pneumatically operated vehicle brake system is implemented using simpler ABS hardware rather than more complex EBS hardware. For each brake chamber (14, 18) or channel (12, 16), two 3/2 solenoid controlled valves (62, 64) are used. An ECU (100) is operative to control the solenoids. The ECU (100) is preferably operative to provide a selected delivery pressure to the brake chamber without measurement of delivery pressure to the brake chamber.(14, 16). Supply air (20) is provided at a known pressure to a first solenoid controlled valve (62) that is associated with the brake chamber (14); the amount of time of energization and de-energization of the first valve (62) that is needed to provide an output therefrom of a given pressure, is calculated; and the first valve is energized and de-energized for the calculated times, thereby to cause a low-pressure test pulse to be provided to the brake chamber.

Selon l'invention, un système de commande de stabilité en roulis destiné à un système de freinage pneumatique pour véhicule est mis en oeuvre au moyen d'un matériel ABS simple plutôt que d'un matériel EBS plus complexe. Pour chaque boîtier auto-freineur (14, 18) ou circuit (12, 16), deux robinets à solénoïdes 3/2 (62, 64) sont utilisés. Un ECU (100) commande les solénoïdes. L'ECU (100) fonctionne, de préférence, pour appliquer une pression de refoulement choisie sur le boîtier auto-freineur (14, 18), sans mesure de ladite pression. De l'air d'alimentation (20) est apporté, selon une pression connue, à un premier robinet à solénoïde (62) associé au boîtier auto-freineur (14); le temps d'excitation et de désexcitation du premier robinet (62) nécessaire pour qu'une sortie d'une pression donnée soit produite du premier robinet est calculé; et le premier robinet est excité et désexcité pour les temps calculés pour induire l'application d'une impulsion d'essai à basse pression sur le boîtier auto-freineur.
