23828-53 ABSTRACT A rolled semi-manufactured aluminium product in the form of sheets, strips or foils, consisting of an aluminium alloy of the type AlFeMn having an uniform, fine-grained structure, wherein the alloy is composed of: Fe: 0.7 - 1.15% by weight, Mn: 0.5 - 2.0% by weight, Si: <0.6% by weight, other impurities: maximum 0.03% by weight, remainder: aluminium, whereby the grain diameter of the structure is 5 to 15 µm and the proportion of rod shaped intermetallic phases amounts to <5% by volume. Such a product can be manufactured by hot rolling a continuous cast ingot following homogenization at temperatures between 300 and 640°C and subsequent cold rolling followed by final annealing at temperatures below 550°C, wherein the continuous cast ingot is homogenized at temperatures of 620 to 480°C for 2 to 20 hours, is thereafter hot rolled to a final thickness of the hot strip of 2.5 to 5 mm followed by cold rolling without process annealing to a final thickness of 40 to 250 µm, whereupon final annealing is carried out in the tempera- ture range of 250 to 400°C for 1 to 6 hours.
