ROLLER ASSEMBLY ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A sealing unit for use with a shaft extending through a roller body for sealing a shaft end, and a carrier roller assembly including the sealing unit. A one-piece high density polyethylene roller body has an axial passageway, and a dead shaft extends in and through the axial passageway with conventional bearings disposed between the shaft and roller body for allowing relative rotation therebetween. The sealing unit for each end of the roller includes an annular polytetrafluoroethylene disc, a polytetra- fluoroethylene ring disposed around the shaft, and a cap which prevents axially outward movement of the disc and ring, the ring being disposed between the cap and disc. The cap is a solid plug of high density polyethylene having an inner face with a recessed central portion receiving the ring, a first radially inward annular portion with a frustoconical surface, and a second radially outward annular portion disposed in a plane perpendicular to the plug central opening.
