ABSTRACT An assembly which attaches to the stem of a boat for hoisting and lowering an anchor and for stowing the anchor when not in use. The assembly is so con- structed that it can be attached to the boat along its stem just below the bow so not to interfere with and be clear of any attachments that are mounted on the deck of the boat. The method of attachment is such that it does not depend on the particular shape of the bow or the at- tachments to the bow and only requires a short straight profile along the stem of the boat below the bow. The assembly consists of a mounting plate that attaches to the stem, two parallel side plates attached to the mounting plate and extending forward and upward, a guide roller mounted between the side plates for rais- ing and, lowering the anchor over the front of the boat and for supporting the anchor when stowed and a remov- able traverse pin that connects the side plate near their forward extreme and is available for securing the anchor when stowed on the assembly. The mounting plate may extend to one side of the side plates to permit the assembly to be attached to one side of the center line of the boat so the anchor or anchor rode does not inter- fere with the forestay of a sailboat or any stemhead fitting. The assembly may have an additional support attached to the outward edge of the mounting plate and secured to the boat to provide added strength and rigidity to the assembly when mounted on the boat.
