A sprocket (212) includes a hub and a plurality of teeth projecting radially outwardly from the hub. At least one cushion ring (244) is located adjacent the teeth, and the cushion ring defines a plurality of compression pads (402) separated from each other by transverse grooves (404). Each of the compression pads is defined symmetrically about a circumferential mid-point. When part of a sprocket with symmetric tooth spaces, the cushion ring is being operable identically in first and second opposite rotational directions. In one arrangement, the compression pads each include a planar outer surface having a leading and a trailing end, wherein the leading end and trailing end are located a common radial distance from a center of the hub about which the sprocket rotates. The tooth spaces of the sprocket can be symmetric, asymmetric and the root surface can be relieved. The sprocket can include multiple tooth profiles distributed randomly about the hub.
CE PIGNON DE CHAINE (212) COMPORTE UN MOYEU ET A PLUSIEURS DENTS SAILLANTES A PARTIR DU MOYEU. UN SEGMENT D'AMORTISSEMENT AU MOINS (244), QUI EST CONTIGU DES DENTS, DEFINIT PLUSIEURS COUSSINETS DE COMPRESSION (402) QUE SEPARENT DES ENCOCHES TRANSVERSALES (404). CHAQUE COUSSINET DE COMPRESSION EST SYMETRIQUE D'UN POINT MEDIAN DE LA CIRCONFERENCE. LORSQU'UNE PARTIE DU PIGNON DE CHAINE S'ECARTE, LE COUSSINET DE COMPRESSION PEUT SE DEPLACER DANS DEUX DIRECTIONS DE ROTATION OPPOSEES. DANS UN MODE DE REALISATION, CHAQUE COUSSINET DE COMPRESSION COMPORTE UNE FACE EXTERIEURE PLANE COMPOSEE D'UN BORD D'ATTAQUE ET D'UN BORD DE FUITE, LESQUELLES SE TROUVENT A UNE DISTANCE RADIALE DU CENTRE DU MOYEU, AUTOUR DUQUEL TOURNE LE PIGNON DE CHAINE. L'ECARTEMENT DES DENTS DU PIGNON DE CHAINE PEUT ETRE SYMETRIQUE, OU ASYMETRIQUE ET LA FACE DE LA DENT PEUT ETRE REDUITE. LES DENTS DU PIGNON DE CHAINE PEUVENT ETRE REPARTIES DE MANIERE ALEATOIRE AUTOUR DU MOYEU.
