A roller door has one or more door sections that can move horizontally towards each other and which can be rolled onto take-up rollers at the side of the door opening and are guided in guide rails above the door opening. In order to permit rapid closing and opening of the door and at the same time avoid any tilting of the two roller door sections, the door halves are each moved by a drive unit that acts on a guide element, one end of which is hinged to the guide rail on the forward edge of the door section, the second end of which is hinged above or at the side of the door opening.
