Abstract Minerals, such as vermiculite, which when mined are recovered in plate-shaped form, are efficiently concentrated in a process wherein the mined ore is passed over a roller screen separator comprising a series of revolving spaced rolls. The collected larger size concentrate can be reduced to desired sizes by passing through a size reducing apparatus and sized by recycling over roller screen separator. Various preferred aspects of the process such as the use of rubber covered rolls, rolls having different spacing therebetween, etc., are also described.
