ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A new and potent cell growth inhibitory substance has been obtained from the South American tree, Rollinia mucosa. This substance has been named Rolliniastatin 1. Physical and chemical parameters are disclosed including its ability to strongly inhibit growth of the NCI P388 lymphocytic leukemia. Pharmaceutical preparations are described containing Rolliniastatin 1, its synthetic counterpart and the non-toxic pharmaceutically active derivatives thereof as the essential active ingredient therein.
