Abstract of the Disclosure Juxtaposed self-supporting roof elements consist of rectangular sheet metal elements which are upwardly convexly cambered in their longitudinal and transverse directions and have profiled longitu- dinal edge portions, which overlap and are joined to adjacent profiled longitudinal edge portions of adjacent roof elements to form longitudinal joints between adjacent roof elements. The roof comprises upper and lower skins, each of which consists of said roof elements. Each of said profiled longitudinal edge portions is curved in accordance with the longitudinal camber of the roof element and has in cross-section the shape of two troughs and a crest between said troughs. Said crests of each of said joints overlap each other. Said crests in said upper skin are substantially vertically aligned with said crests of said lower skin. Spacers are spaced apart along said joints and support said upper skin. Each of said spacers is secured to the upper side of a joint of the lower skin and to the underside of the overlying joint of the upper skin at the crests of said joints.
