ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE To heat a room, preheated air is ejected into the room through a narrow orifice provided close to the ceiling at one edge thereof. The heating action is controled by means of a valve controlling the current of air supplied to said orifice. The air ejected into the room heats a ceiling area serving as a heat radiating surface the width of which, as measured from the orifice in the direction of the ejected air stream, varies with the setting of the valve.
