ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a material for preventing the entry of roots into unwanted areas such as waste burial cites, underground pipelines, basement and sidewalks. The material comprises a sheet of water-permeable material carrying distributed bodies of polymer containing a root-repellant 2,6-dinitroaniline compound preferably together with carbon black. Because of the shape, the material may be applied uniformly and quickly, and the 2,6-dinitroaniline compound is slowly released over many years, for example, 50 to 100 years.
