ABSTRACT A rotary brush tool for surface working comprising a brush belt of flat cross section designed as a closed ring. Rigid bristles are fastened to the brush belt. The rigid bristles are U-shaped, with their free legs extending at least in part radially outwardly through the brush belt and having their free ends predominantly projecting radially outwardly from the brush belt. The rigid bristles are supported in the brush belt in a manner that they are fixed against rotation about their own main axis. A brush belt carrier is provided having a central axial drive shaft carrying the brush belt. The brush belt carrier has the form of a resilient annular body which is adapted to be elastically widened by a multi part clamping unit in such a way that the surface of the annular body contacts the whole inner surface of the brush belt. The brush belt is made of flexible material and the rigid bristles are supported for elastic resilience adjustable in radially inward direction through the shell surface of the annular body.
