A seal mechanism for a rotary control valve having a housing with a plurality of ports and a generally cylindrical rotor having an external surface and a plurality of ports rotatably located within the housing. The seal mechanism is located between the external surface of the rotor and the housing and includes a generally cylindrical collar which extends substantially around the circumference of the rotor. The collar includes one or more ports adapted to respectively align with the ports in the rotor and in the housing and a groove extending around each collar port. A seal member having an aperture, an outwardly extending first flange and an inwardly extending second flange is located within the groove of the collar. The first flange has a first sealing face adapted to sealingly engage the housing and the second flange includes a second sealing face adapted to sealingly engage the external surface of the rotor. The seal member is adapted to provide a sealed fluid passage through the aperture of the seal member between a port of the rotor and a port of the housing. A retainer member is associated with the seal member and includes an outer rim having an outer peripheral edge and an inner rim having an outer peripheral edge. The first flange of the seal member extends around the outer edge of the outer rim and the second flange of the seal member extends around the outer edge of the inner rim.

Mécanisme d'étanchéité pour une vanne de régulation rotative munie d'un bâti comportant plusieurs orifices et d'un rotor généralement cylindrique comportant une surface extérieure et plusieurs orifices articulés situés à l'intérieur du bâti. Le mécanisme d'étanchéité est placé entre la surface extérieure du rotor et le bâti. Il comprend une courroie relativement cylindrique installée autour du rotor. Cette courroie comporte un ou plusieurs orifices qui s'adaptent respectivement aux orifices du rotor et du bâti ainsi qu'une rainure autour de chacun des orifices. Dans la rainure se trouve un dispositif d'étanchéité muni d'une ouverture, d'un premier rebord en extension qui se prolonge vers l'extérieur et d'un deuxième rebord en extension qui se prolonge vers l'intérieur. Le premier rebord comporte la première surface d'étanchéité adaptée qui scelle le bâti. Quant au deuxième rebord, il comprend la deuxième surface d'étanchéité adaptée qui scelle la surface extérieure du rotor. Le dispositif d'étanchéité est adapté de façon à ce qu'un fluide puisse passer par l'ouverture - dont le contour est bien scellé - entre un orifice du rotor et un orifice du bâti. Un mécanisme de retenue est associé au dispositif d'étanchéité et comporte un bord extérieur muni d'une arête périphérique extérieure ainsi qu'un bord intérieur muni d'une arête périphérique extérieure. Le premier rebord du dispositif d'étanchéité est installé autour de l'arête extérieure du bord extérieur. Quant au deuxième rebord du dispositif d'étanchéité, il est installé autour de l'arête extérieure du bord intérieur.
