IMPROVED ROTARY CUTTING ASSEMBLY ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is an apparatus for cutting vegetation and the like which includes a housing rotatable in a cutting plane about an axis, and having at least one internal compartment and at least two peripheral apertures communicating with the compartment, each compartment being defined at least partially by a curvilinear wall portion of the housing. A spool-like member is removably insertable in the housing and includes a wall member extending generally perpendicularly to the cutting plane and at least three flange elements extending outwardly from the wall member in planes substantially parallel to the cutting plane. Each flange element of the spool member is spaced one from the other along the axis and defines with the wall member a pair of storage compartments, flexible line members each have a coiled portion stored in one of the storage compartments and a non-coiled portion extends from the respective storage compartment through one of the peripheral apertures and outwardly of the peripheral of the housing for travel in the cutting plane. A metallic bearing element is disposed within each of the peripheral apertures and each bearing element is in abutting engagement with the curvilinear wall portion of the housing which defines the associated aperture.
