An improved end milling tool effective to reduce forces produced in ramp cutting comprises a plurality of end cutting edges (20, 22, 24), and a plurality of side cutting eddges (32, 34, 36), each end cutting edge lying parallel to a radius of the tool tip (18) and intersecting a side cutting edge at the periphery of the tool tip, and each end cutting edge comprising a peripheral end edge portion and an interior edge portion (70), the peripheral end edge portion sloping relatively shallowly from the tip periphery towards the shank portion (14) of the tool, and the interior edge (72) portion sloping relatively steeply from the peripheral edge portion towards the shank portion.
L'invention concerne un outil perfectionné de fraisage combiné qui permet de réduire les forces produites lors d'une découpe en rampe. Cet outil comprend une pluralité d'arêtes d'extrémité (20, 22, 24) et une pluralité d'arêtes latérales (32, 34, 36). Chaque arête d'extrémité est parallèle à un rayon de la pointe de l'outil (18) et coupe une arête latérale sur le pourtour de la pointe de l'outil. Chaque arête d'extrémité comprend un bord d'extrémité périphérique et un bord intérieur (70). Le bord d'extrémité périphérique présente une inclinaison relativement faible entre le pourtour de la pointe et la tige (14) de l'outil tandis que le bord intérieur (72) présente une inclinaison relativement escarpée entre le bord périphérique et la tige.
