A drive assembly suitable for a spindle connection to a drill string or other shaft, the assembly comprising or including a drive shaft, a shuttle rotatable under the action of the drive shaft but being slidable relative thereto, the shuttle carrying magnets, a containment assembly to constrain the shuttle to a shuttle axis, the containment assembly carrying magnets to co-act with those of the shuttle as the shuttle is rotated by the drive shaft thereby to cause the shuttling of the shuttle, a spindle not forming part of the shuttle arrangement to receive vibration from said containment assembly and/or said shuttle (e.g.; through a cushion of liquid), a carriage assembly on part of the spindle slidable on an axis coincident with and/or parallel to the spindle's rotational axis, and a drive carried by the carriage assembly to rotate the spindle or to rotate both the spindle and part of the carriage assembly.

La présente invention concerne une transmission adaptée à une broche de connexion à un train de tiges de forage ou à tout autre axe, la transmission comprenant ou contenant un arbre de transmission, un piston tournant sous l'action de la transmission mais coulissant relativement à cette dernière, ce piston contenant des aimants. La transmission comprend également un ensemble de rétention destiné à maintenir le piston sur un axe de piston, l'ensemble de rétention disposant d'aimants destinés à interagir avec ceux du piston lorsque le piston tourne sous l'action de l'arbre de transmission ce qui entraîne le va-et-vient du piston. La transmission comprend enfin un axe distinct de l'ensemble piston et destiné à recevoir les vibrations dudit ensemble de rétention et/ou dudit piston (par exemple à travers un coussin de liquide), un ensemble chariot situé sur la partie du piston coulissante sur un axe qui coïncide et/ou qui est parallèle à l'axe de rotation du piston et une commande de l'ensemble chariot destinée à faire tourner le piston ou bien à faire tourner à la fois le piston et une partie de l'ensemble chariot.
