Abstract of the Disclosure A rotary filing apparatus for index cards and the like is characterized by a cylindrical housing horizontally mounted for rotation about its axis; a plurality of planar partitions extending along the length of the housing and radially outward therefrom at spaced intervals therearound, and a pair of spaced, arcuate ring segments between each adjacent pair of partitions. Each pair of ring segments is hinged at one of its ends to one of the partitions and releasably latched at the other of its ends to the other partition. When unlatched, the segments are pivotable about the one partition and away from the drum for having punched index cards, photographs, etc., threaded onto free ends of the segments. When latched, the ring segments are closed and retain the material. Upon rotation of the drum positions, the materials retained thereon become available for convenient access. Cards with punched holes, as compared with open notched or keyhole slotted holes, can be threaded onto the ring segments and cannot be casually removed. If desired, the latches may be provided with key locks to preclude unauthorized removal of the material.
