A rotary flap tucker (10) comprising a tube sector having a smalleer arc length end, a larger arc length end, a longitudinal edge (12), and an edge which helically advances generally from the small arc length end to the large arc length end. The tube sector has end plates (30, 40) each with an edge contoured to avoid contact with a carton flap as the flap tucker rotates about its center axis which is aligned with the carton travel direction. The leading edge (66) of a flap (64) entering the flap tucker follows the helical edge of the flap tucker as it rotates without contacting the flap for a majority of the rotation. Rotation brings the flap tucker's longitudinal edge (12) in contact with the flap along a majority of the flap's length. Continued rotation plows the majority of the length of the flap simultaneously, thereby preventing the flap from misaligning on the carton when the flap is closed. The outside surface of the rotating flap tucker runs against the closed flap of the advancing carton, preferably along the carton's center line.
L'invention concerne une plieuse rotative de rabats (10) comportant un secteur tubulaire présentant une extrémité à longueur d'arc plus petite, une extrémité à longueur d'arc plus grande, un bord longitudinal (12), et un bord qui avance de manière hélicoïdale généralement depuis l'extrémité à petite longueur d'arc jusqu'à l'extrémité à grande longueur d'arc. Ce secteur tubulaire possède des plaques terminales (30, 40) pourvues chacune d'un bord profilé pour éviter le contact avec un rabat de carton lorsque la plieuse de rabats tourne autour de son axe central qui est aligné avec le sens de défilement du carton. Le bord avant (66) d'un rabat (64) entrant dans la plieuse suit le bord hélicoïdal de cette dernière tandis qu'elle tourne sans venir en contact avec le rabat pendant une grande partie de la rotation. La rotation amène le bord longitudinal (12) de la plieuse en contact avec le rabat sur une grande partie de la longueur de celui-ci. La poursuite du mouvement de rotation provoque le déplacement en une seule fois de la majeure partie de la longueur du rabat, empêchant ainsi le déport du rabat par rapport au carton une fois le rabat fermé. La surface extérieure de la plieuse rotative passe contre le rabat fermé du carton qui avance, de préférence le long de l'axe médian de ce dernier.
