ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A rotary internal-combustion engine comprises a cylindrical housing closed at each end by an end plate and having an inlet port and an exhaust port, a cylindrical rotor journalled in the housing for concentric rotation therein, a first circumferentially extending groove in said rotor, a second circumferentially extending groove in said rotor, axially spaced from said first groove, a combustion chamber on said housing and connecting periodically with each of said grooves while the rotor rotates, first valve means associated with said first groove and dividing said first groove into an induction chamber and a compression chamber while the rotor rotates, and second valve means associated with said second groove dividing said second groove into an expansion chamber and an exhaust chamber while the rotor rotates. - 1a -
