ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a rotary pipe coupling which is particularly useful for connecting a spout to a body of a faucet. A known design utilizes a split metal ring which is engaged by a coupling nut, sealing being effected by an O-ring. Pressure surges caused, for example, by solenoid actuated water shut- off valves in dishwashers, can sometimes cause a spout of prior art design to blow out of the body of the faucet. The coupling of this invention eliminates this problem by providing a coupling ring of relatively hard but resilient material such as plastic which has an internal rib which engages with a groove in the spout. The ring has a first face which bears against an internal surface on the end of the pipe portion to which the spout is connected and a further face which bears against an internal surface on the coupling nut.
