2112471 9322631 PCTABS00027 A water meter of the volumetric type has a piston eccentrically mounted in a chamber to sweep a fixed volume between inlet and outlet ports. Axially extending grooves are formed in the sealing surface of the piston to enable suspended particles to pass without damage through the meter, whilst maintaining a sufficient seal to ensure accuracy. The grooves communicate through a flush channel with the outlet port.
