ROTARY POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT MACHINES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A machine that may function as a rotary com- pressor, vacuum pump, expansion engine, or blower. Two rotors interengage inside a housing. The first rotor opens and closes higher pressure ports in the end walls of the housing. The first rotor has a larger diameter hub than that of the co-acting second rotor so as to permit the ports to be larger in area. The optimum number of teeth or lobes for each rotor is two. So as to reduce an internal throttling loss between the large diameter first rotor hub and the casing, the hub has two grooves instead of one and the grooves are large in angle. The lobes on the first rotor are smaller in angle whereas the lobes on the second rotor are larger in angle. The rotary shaft power transmitted through the two timing gears is less then one half of the total.
