A seal assembly for a compressor includes a static member fixedly disposed within a compressor casing and having an end surface and a rotatable separator coupled with a compressor shaft and spaced from the static member. The separator has an axial end with a radial end surface located adjacent to the static member end surface such that a clearance space is defined therebetween. The separator has a plurality of openings extending inwardly from the end surface and spaced about the shaft axis such that land surface sections are defined on the end surface. The land surface sections or/and the openings are configured to prevent fluid flow radially inwardly through the clearance space. The static member has two annular walls receiving an end portion of the separator, with annular ridges providing labyrinth seals disposed against inner and outer surfaces of the separator, and an annular deflector with an angled deflector surface.
La présente invention concerne un ensemble joint destiné à un compresseur et comportant un élément statique fixe à l'intérieur du corps du compresseur, avec une face d'extrémité et un séparateur rotatif couplés à un arbre de compresseur, à distance de l'élément statique. Le séparateur comporte une extrémité axiale avec une surface d'extrémité radiale située contre la surface d'extrémité de l'élément statique de façon à définir entre elles un intervalle libre. Le séparateur comporte une pluralité d'ouvertures donnant vers l'intérieur en partant de la surface d'extrémité et espacées autour de l'axe d'arbre de façon à définir des sections à surfaces pleines sur la surface d'extrémité. Les sections à surfaces pleines et/ou les ouvertures sont configurées pour empêcher l'écoulement de fluides radialement vers l'intérieur en passant par l'intervalle libre. L'élément statique comporte deux parois annulaires recevant une partie d'extrémité du séparateur avec des rives annulaires constituant des joints labyrinthes disposés contre les surfaces intérieures et extérieures du séparateur, et un déflecteur annulaire à surface de déflecteur inclinée.
