ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The valve comprises a body which can be connected on two opposite sides to two pipes having the same axis, a rotary member inside the body is rotatable around an axis perpendicular to the common axis of the pipes. A port traverses the rotary member and in open position the port is of substantially the same axis as the pipes. Fluid-tight linings ensure the sealing of the valve in closed position. The rotary member carries at least one cap movable in a direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation to ensure fluid-tightness in closed position, An intermediate part is placed between the rotary member of the cap and is movable with respect to the rotary member between a resting position and an active position in which it exerts a force on the cap tending to separate it from the rotary member. The body has a stop which does not limit the rotation of the rotary member whilst limiting that of one at least of the parts driven by the rotary member. It modifies the relative position of the cap and the intermediate part by means of a cam surface through which the parts are in contact, the intermediate part being positioned to come into contact with the stop in the course of the movement of the rotary member. The valve is particularly sure and of long life-span which is of particular value in the handling of corrosive and/or dangerous gases or liquids.
