Apparatus for accessing a bodily passageway, the apparatus comprising: a flexible tube having a distal end and a proximal end, a longitudinal axis extending between the distal end and the proximal end, and a lumen extending from the distal end to the proximal end, the lumen being sized to receive matter to be transported through the bodily passageway; and an external thread disposed over the distal end of the tube, the external thread having a sufficient structural integrity, and a sufficient surface profile, such that when the tube is disposed in a bodily passageway, rotation of the tube about the longitudinal axis will result in longitudinal motion of the tube along said bodily passageway.

L'invention concerne un appareil permettant d'accéder à une voie de passage corporelle. Cet appareil comporte un tube flexible pourvu d'une extrémité distale et d'une extrémité proximale, d'un axe longitudinal s'étendant entre lesdites extrémités distale et proximale, et d'une lumière s'étendant d'une extrémité à l'autre, ladite lumière étant dimensionnée pour recevoir de la matière à transporter à travers la voie de passage. Ledit tube comporte, également, un fil externe disposé au-dessus de son extrémité distale. Ce fil externe possède une intégrité structurelle suffisante et un profil surfacique suffisant, pour que, lorsque le tube est placé dans une voie de passage corporelle, la rotation du tube autour de l'axe longitudinal débouche sur le déplacement longitudinal du tube le long de ladite voie de passage corporelle.
