An aquatic filter system (10) hav- ing a rotatably mounted cylindrical filter body (26). The cylindrical filter body is formed by a water absorbing mass of material (24). Water applied to one side of the filter body unbalances the filter body which causes the filter body to rotate. As a result of the rotational movement, at least a portion of the filter body is alternately exposed to the water and the atmosphere to foster the growth of aerobic bacteria on the surfaces of the filter body.

L'invention concerne un système de filtre d'eau (10) ayant un corps de filtre cylindrique (26) monté en rotation. Le corps de filtre cylindrique est formé par une masse de matériau (24) absorbant l'eau. L'eau appliquée sur un côté du corps du filtre déséquilibre le corps de filtre et provoque sa rotation. Le résultat du mouvement de rotation est qu'au moins une portion du corps de filtre est exposée successivement à l'eau et à l'atmosphère pour favoriser la croissance de bactéries aérobies sur les surfaces du corps de filtre.
