A media panel for a rotating biological treatment apparatus (2) for treating waste water, the rotating biological treatment apparatus including a rotatable shaft (8) having a longitudinal axis and a plurality of media panel assemblies (10a, 10b) stacked on the shaft and a plurality of media panels (10a, 10b) mounted on the hub, the media panel comprising a planar member having a first side (10a) and a second side (10b), and the planar member being mountable on the hub to extend normal to the longitudinal axis for the shaft to form a portion of a generally disk-shaped media panel assembly extending normal to the longitudinal axis of the shaft; the first side of the planar member including at least one first set of alternating grooves and ridges, and the second side of the media panel including at least one second set of grooves and ridges; the grooves and ridges of the first and second sets of alternating grooves and ridges each having a first radially inner portion, a second radially inner portion spaced apart from the first radially inner portion, and a radially outer portion between and spaced radially outwardly with respect to the first and second radially inner portions when the media panel is mounted on the hub.

Le disque à milieu biologique comprend un élément plat qui présente des premier (10a) et deuxième (10b) côtés et qu'on peut monter sur le moyeu pour qu'il s'étende perpendiculaire à l'axe longitudinal de l'arbre et forme ainsi une partie d'un ensemble disque à milieu biologique de forme globalement circulaire s'étendant perpendiculairement à l'axe longitudinal de l'arbre; le premier côté de l'élément plat comprenant au moins une première série de rainures et d'arêtes alternées et le deuxième côté du disque à milieu biologique comprenant au moins une deuxième série de rainures et d'arêtes; les rainures et les arêtes des première et deuxième séries de rainures et d'arêtes alternées présentant chacune une première partie radiale interne, une deuxième partie radiale interne espacée de la première, et une partie radiale externe qui est située entre les première et deuxième parties radiales internes et espacée radialement vers l'extérieur de ces dernières lorsque le disque à milieu biologique est monté sur le moyeu.
