ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A grain cleaner and method of cleaning grain is the subject of the present invention. A single rotatable drum (24) presents a substantially continuous screen surface (32) of increasing mesh size from one end to another with the drum having an inlet end (25) and an outlet end (27). A plurality of baffles (38) are disposed in spaced apart relationship along the periphery of and along the length of the screen surface (32) of the drum 124) for retarding the flow of material therethrough. Retaining means is provided in the vicinity of the outlet end (27) of the drum (24) for retarding the flow of foreign material from the drum (24) while accommodating the eventual passage of foreign material out of the drum (24). The drum (24) is rotated by any conventional power source.
