A novel apparatus for providing three-dimensional positioning to the ends of a translating element which is normally restricted to translation along the element axis. A cartridge assembly formed from a cylindrically shaped ceramic holds the translating element at an angle to the center axis of the cylindrical ceramic. The cartridge assembly rotates within a cylindrically shaped chamber in a lid assembly. The lid assembly is mounted on the port of a chamber where the translating element is to be positioned, thereby allowing the translating element to extend into the chamber. The center axis of the cylindrical chamber of the lid assembly is at an angle to the center axis of the port of the chamber. A rotational drive unit rotates the cartridge assembly within the lid assembly. A translational drive unit longitudinally drives the translating element within the cartridge assembly.
L'invention concerne un nouvel appareil destiné à assurer le positionnement tridimensionnel des extrémités d'un élément de translation dont la translation est normalement limitée le long de l'axe de l'élément. Un ensemble cartouche en céramique de forme cylindrique maintient l'élément de translation à un angle donné par rapport à l'axe central de la céramique cylindrique. L'ensemble cartouche tourne à l'intérieur d'une chambre cylindrique dans un ensemble couvercle. L'ensemble couvercle est monté sur l'ouverture d'une chambre où l'élément de translation est à positionner, permettant ainsi à l'élément de translation de s'étendre jusque dans la chambre. L'axe central de la chambre cylindrique de l'ensemble couvercle se trouve à un angle donné par rapport à l'axe central de l'ouverture de la chambre. Une unité d'entraînement rotative fait tourner l'ensemble cartouche à l'intérieur de l'ensemble couvercle. Une unité d'entraînement de translation entraîne longitudinallement l'élément de translation à l'intérieur de l'ensemble cartouche.
