ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The rotational direction of a capstan motor can not follow immediately with the command signal from a system control because of the mechanical inertia of a tape trans- porting system. In the new system of the invention, the command signal is employed together with a rotational signal from a frequency generator for supplying a actual rotational direction indicating pulse. Thus obtained direction indicat- ing pulse is necessary for the tape transporting system, and is used in supplying a braking current to the motor, actuating a pinch roller, and so on.
