ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A vibratory device (10) is disclosed wherein a flu- id-driven rotor (60) is driven about a shaft (42) to im- part vibrations thereto and drive a work tool (24) or other object attached to the shaft (42). The vibratory device includes means (51) on the shaft (42) for correcting dis- placement of the rotor (60) from its drive position. That means comprises a portion (51) of the shaft (42) beneath the rotor means (60) having an enlarged diameter such that move- ment of the rotor (60) caused by shaft wear is corrected. Additional means (65) may be associated with the rotor (60), e.g., chamfered end edges of the rotor, which minimize pressure differentials at the end of the rotor edges and consequently assist in centralization of the rotor (60) about the outlet means (70) on the shaft. The fluid outlet means comprises outlet ports (70) in the shaft wall beneath the area of rotation of the rotor (60), the outlet ports (70) having chamfered outside end edges (71) to minimize power losses from turbulence. Additionally, means (30) are provided along the shaft for selecting the vibrational mode in which the vibratory device (10) operates.
