Apparatus for vibration damping a rotor rotatably supported in a stationary housing by a bearing whose retainer housing is concentrically engaged in the stationary housing in an axial position by elastic elements. In order to avoid or reduce vibrations produced by rotation of the rotor particularly resonance vibrations, an oil space is formed between the stationary housing and the bearing retainer which is sealed at its ends by axially spaced sealing rings. An inlet channel is provided in the stationary housing for supplying oil under pressure into the space and outlet channels for the oil are formed in the bearing retainer in the vicinity of the sealing rings. The oil discharge channels are provided with constricted regions whose flow cross-sections and lengths are related to the flow cross-section of the oil inlet channel such that the oil discharge channels act as chokes or throttles.

Cette invention concerne un dispositif d'amortissement des vibrations d'un rotor tournant dans un logement fixe et supporté par un roulement dont le palier est centré dans ledit logement par des éléments élastiques. Afin de réduire ou d'éliminer les vibrations induites par la rotation du rotor, en particulier les vibrations à la fréquence de résonance, un vide annulaire est ménagé entre le logement fixe et le palier et fermé hermétiquement par des bagues d'étanchéité espacées axialement. Un passage d'admission d'huile est prévu dans le logement fixe pour acheminer de l'huile sous pression dans l'espace annulaire susmentionné tandis que des passages d'évacuation de l'huile sont ménagés dans le palier du roulement, à proximité des bagues d'étanchéité. Les passages d'évacuation de l'huile comportent des étranglements dont la section et la longueur sont telles par rapport à la section du passage d'admission d'huile qu'ils ont une action de maintien de la pression par réduction du débit d'évacuation.
