ROUND BALE LOADER AND CARRIER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Conventional bale carriers and/or accumulators include mechanisms which receive the bale from the ground and to one side of the carrier and then lift it onto the carrier rails. Either forks or impaling spikes are used to engage the bale. When it is desired to receive the bales directly from the round baling machine, difficul- ties are encountered because the bale is ejected trans- versely relative to the carrier or accumulator frame so that it is not possible, with conventional structures, to pull the carrier or accumulator behind the baler. The present invention includes means to receive a bale trans- versely over the front of the carrier or accumulator which may be pulled immediately behind the baler, and then swing the bale through 90° so that it lies longitud- inally relative to the carrier or accumulator. The bale is then engaged upon the ground so that when the carrier or accumulator is moved forwardly with the baler, the pickup rails engage under the rounded sides of the bale and elevate it as the carrier or accumulator is raised to the transport position, with the bale ready to be moved rearwardly along the rails by the next succeeding bale ejected from the baler machine.
