A router attachment for making dentil cuts into the surface of a workpiece is disclosed and renders a common woodworking router capable of producing fluting and edging cuts which may be straight or tapered. The attachment comprises a top frame with a substantially flat bottom surface which rests on a workpiece and includes a base member which abuts the face of the workpiece into which the cut is to be made. A carriage member is received on the top frame and includes a top surface with an opening therein in order to receive a router and permit the bit of the router to extend through the opening. Cooperating means on the carriage member and top frame is provided to slidably mount the carriage to the top frame and permit motion of the carriage relative to the base member in a direction perpendicular to front surface of the workpiece so that the carriage member can move in said perpendicular direction to permit the bit to cut into the workpiece along the perpendicular direction while the base member remains in fixed contact with the face. Indexing means is also provided for and is mounted on the base member to position the base member and the router bit laterally along the workpiece to insure cuts therealong are made in fixed selected relationship.
