Routing logic means (RL) for a communication switching element (ISE) of a self- routing multi- stage switching network and able to transfer cells or packets of information from any of its inlets (I1-32) to any of its outlets (O1-32). The outlets of the switching element are arranged in routing groups containing one or more of them and of which the identity is derived by the routing logic means from an output- port- address (OPA) identifying an output of the switching network and contained in the self-routing- tag (SRT) associated to the cell. This cell is then transferred to one of the outlets belonging to the selected routing group. The routing logic means (RL) are also able to control the transfer of a cell through the switching element according to the execution of a predetermined routing function selected amongst a plurality of routing functions (RS, DI, MC, BH, IS). This routing function to be executed is selected by the routing logic means according to a routing- control- code (RCC) also contained in the self- routing- tag (SRT) and each value thereof identifies a specific transfer pattern constituted by a predetermined sequence of routing functions to be executed in the switching elements (ISE) through the switching network (SN).
L'invention est un dispositif d'acheminement logique (RL) utilisé par un élément de commutation de communications (ISE) d'un réseau de commutation multiétage à autoacheminement. Ce dispositif peut transférer des cellules ou des paquets d'information de l'une ou l'autre de ses entrées (I1-32) à l'une ou l'autre de ses sorties (O1-32). Les sorties de l'élément de commutation sont disposées en groupes d'acheminement contenant une ou plusieurs sorties dont l'identité est obtenue par le dispositif d'acheminement logique à partir d'une adresse de port de sortie (OPA) qui identifie l'une des sorties du réseau de commutation, et est contenue dans l'étiquette d'autoacheminement (SRT) associée à la cellule. Celle-ci est ensuite transférée à l'une des sorties faisant partie du groupe d'acheminement sélectionné. Le dispositif d'acheminement logique (RL) de l'invention peut également contrôler le transfert d'une cellule via l'élément de commutation selon l'exécution d'une opération d'acheminent prédéterminée sélectionnée parmi une pluralité d'opérations d'acheminement (RS, DI, MC, BH, IS). Cette opération d'acheminement à exécuter est sélectionnée par les dispositifs d'acheminement logiques selon un code de contrôle d'acheminement (RCC) contenu également dans l'étiquette d'autoacheminement (SRT) et chacune des valeurs de ce code identifie une configuration de transfert particulière constituée par une suite prédéterminée d'opérations d'acheminement à exécuter dans les éléments de commutation (ISE) via le réseau de commutation (SN).
