Disclosed is a rubber composition obtainable by kneading a mixture comprising (A) 100 parts by weight of a solution polymerized diene rubber, (B) 5 - 100 parts by weight of silica, (C) 1 - 15 parts by weight of a silane coupling agent and (D) 1 - 20 parts by weight of an organic silicon compound having a number average molecular weight of from about 100 to about 10,000, while controlling the maximum temperature during the kneading at 200°C or less. The composition has good wear resistance, low rolling resistance and is excellent in productivity and is useful, for example, for automobile tires.
